Just a few bits of info on our very friendly Ladies Section which you might find useful in your search for a golf club to join (we think ours is excellent!!)
We have a very active Ladies Section with around 80 playing members and also Social members. Our competitions (Medals and Stablefords) are played in 2s, on a Thursday and Sunday. We also have Mixed competitions on Bank Holidays and other dates throughout the year.
All ladies are automatically members of the Gloucester Ladies County Association and subject to competition condition, may play in County events.
Our ladies have two teams in the Bristol & District Alliance. Players for these teams are chosen in handicap order and matches are played off scratch.
We play Friendly matches against other local Clubs.
New Lady Members will be given a 'Buddy' who will be able to help you with any queries you may have.
Any other information you may need please contact our Club Secretary, Vicky who will point you in the right direction!
The Seniors Section comprises approx 150 members of the club and is open to any club member aged 60 or over, or aged 55 or more and fully retired. Application forms to join the Section are available from the Pro-shop and there is a one-off joining fee of £12.
Our two Open Competitions in 2019 being the Walter King and Bennett Cup are due to be played on 14th May and 10th September. Otherwise we look forward to our usual internal competitions in various formats and matches against other clubs.
The Seniors Captain for 2018/2019 is Arthur Piercy. General enquiries should be addressed to the Secretary Bill Ovel. Members or visitors enquiring about either of our Opens should contact Rupert Tucker or John Carr. Members wanting further information on other clubs Opens should contact Steve Tanner.
Congratulations to the 2018/19 winners Bill Ovel & John Allen who beat John Carr and Philip May 2&1.
Nathan Moore, Sam Harrison and Sam Williams played at Frilford Heath in August and after a fantastic final round and great team effort won the England Golf event representing Gloucester County on countback - the future is looking good for Long Ashton Juniors.
This runs throughout the winter months, contact pro shop for more information or email junior organiser
These generally run on Monday evenings during the main season, with 2 groups, some playing competitive golf on the course and the others playing with a volunteer adult or having on course coaching with the professional staff but more coaching and courses are offered during school holidays subject to interest from the juniors.
Extra group coaching is also included which will vary each week.
We welcome all the new juniors who have joined the club over the last year and hope they enjoy their time at LAGC, we now have over 80 juniors with some younger girls doing really well which is great to see and the list keeps on growing, you too could be the next Chris Wood!
We run 3 mens teams, 2 ladies teams and a junior team all in various leagues and also the Seniors and Ladies play friendly fixtures against other local clubs throughout the season. These are open to a wide range of members allowing competitive golf at other courses for everyone.
